Indian origin student in America kills self

There was a stir when the body of 23-year-old Indian-origin student Sameer Kamat was found. A new information has been received about Sameer Kamat, who was pursuing his doctorate at Purdue University in Indiana. In this case, officials said that the student committed suicide by shooting himself.

According to a news agency of Purdue University, Sameer Kamath was found dead at around 5 pm on February 5.

While giving information in a press conference on Wednesday, Warren County Coroner's Office official Justin Brummett said that Kamat's body was forensically examined on February 6 in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Information has been received that Sameer died due to bullet injury on his head.

He said the preliminary cause of death was "bullet wound to the head" and that Kamat died by "suicide". He also said that the toxicology report is yet to come. Brummett expressed condolences to Kamat's family, saying, "Our deepest sympathies go out to the family."

He said that before making the report public, his family members have been informed about it. Our investigative agencies are capable of solving such cases. He said that more information is being collected about this in collaboration with Purdue University administration.

In the report, he said that the help of Warren County Coroner's Office, Warren County Sheriff's Office, Purdue University Administration and other supporting agencies is being sought on this case.

Sameer Kamat was an American citizen of Indian origin. He was a resident of Massachusetts. He was a doctoral student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University. He earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Massachusetts and came to study at Purdue University in the summer of 2021.

The 23-year-old had completed his master's degree in mechanical engineering in August 2023 and held US citizenship. According to the information, Sameer was going to complete his doctoral program in 2025.
