An Indian-American man has died, days after he was found with life-threatening injuries following a fight outside a Washington restaurant.

According to a police report, Vivek Taneja, a resident of Virginia, was at a Japanese restaurant named 2 Sisters on February 2. "A suspect threw him to the ground and hit his head on the sidewalk," the Washington Post said, citing a police report.

This case has come amid incidents of attacks and deaths on Indians and Indian-Americans in America.

41-year-old Vivek Taneja had come out of the restaurant at 2 in the night and was attacked on the road nearby. According to the police report, there is no information about why this attack took place. Vivek was in an unconscious state after the attack. Police found Vivek on the road with life-threatening injuries and he was immediately admitted to the hospital.

Police said that Vivek Taneja died in the hospital on Wednesday. Police are searching for the suspect captured in CCTV, who has not been identified yet.

Shreyas Reddy Beniger, a 19-year-old student who held a US passport, was found dead last week, but authorities have ruled out any foul play. Another student, Neel Acharya, was found dead on the Purdue University campus earlier this week.

Earlier on January 16, Vivek Saini, a 25-year-old student from Haryana, was beaten to death by a homeless man in Lithonia, Georgia.
