Subah-e-Banaras member arrested on sodomy charges

A member of the prestigious Varanasi based organisation ‘Subah-e-Banaras’ was arrested on charges of sodomising young boys.

According to the police officials in Varanasi, the member, identified as Sunil Shukla, was arrested after a social worker lodged a complaint with the police alleging that Shukla had sodomised four young boys, including the ten-year old son of his maid servant.

The maid servant of Shukla alleged that the latter lured her son to his residence on the pretext of giving him books and copies and took him to the second floor of his house where he sexually assaulted him and also stripped him and clicked his pictures.

It was alleged that Shukla did the same with the other boys also, who were in the age group of 10 to 12.

Though the incident happened on June 20, the maid servant, who was told about the matter by her son, kept silent fearing social humiliation. The complaint with the police was lodged after a social worker came to know about the matter.

There were allegations that the police initially vacillated in registering the complaint but ultimately did so after the matter was highlighted by the local media.
