Road Rage-Car driver rams vehicle into police van killing cop, himself
Sources said that the incident happened on the Jodhpur-Nagaur highway near Tut ki Bari on Tuesday evening.
In a shocking incident a car driver, allegedly angry over being warned for violation of traffic rules, rammed his vehicle into a police van killing a traffic assistant sub-inspector of police in Jodhpur district of Rajasthan.
The driver, identified as Harishankar Vaishno, a resident of Jalsu village in Nagaur district of Rajasthan, was also killed following the impact of the collision, according to the police sources in Jodhpur.
Sources said that the incident happened on the Jodhpur-Nagaur highway near Tut ki Bari on Tuesday evening.
Sources said that Vaishno, who was driving his vehicle on the wrong side of the road and talking with someone on his cell phone while driving, was spotted by the traffic cops, who then stopped him and warned against violating the traffic rules.
Vaishno, apparently furious over being warned, drove his vehicle to some distance and came back at a great speed and rammed into the interceptor vehicle of the traffic cops. Bahnwar Lal, the traffic ASI, who was in talks with the control room over his walki-talki and was standing behind the interceptor vehicle, came under the wheels after Vaishno’s car rammed into it at a speed of 110 kilometre per hour, sources said.
Bhanwar Lal, who sustained serious injuries, was rushed to the nearby hospital but was declared brought dead. Vaishno, who also sustained serious injuries, succumbed to them on way to the hospital.
Police said that Vaishno appeared to be in an inebriated state and did not bother about the consequences when he rammed his vehicle into the interceptor. The impact of the collision was so great that both the vehicles were smashed almost completely.
A case was lodged in this connection and the police were investigating the matter, officials said in Jodhpur.
