The alleged killing of a minor after being gang raped in the Bhilwara district of Rajasthan has shocked the state with the opposition BJP slamming the Ashok Gehlot government for what it claimed failed to ensure the safety of the women in the state.

According to police sources, the 14-year-old minor was allegedly gang-raped and later thrown in a brick kiln in a semi-conscious state.

The remains of her half-burnt body were later allegedly chopped into several pieces and dumped into a pond apparently to destroy evidence.

Police sources said that two persons, who also hailed from the same village, where the victim also lived, gang-raped her after finding her alone in a secluded area under Kotri police station in the district.

Sources said that the wives of the alleged culprits helped them in destroying the evidence and they reportedly opened the lid of the furnace where coal is burnt and the victim, who was in a semi-conscious state, was thrown into it.

Police said that the accused persons, identified as Kanha and Kalu, who worked at the brick kiln, left the minor lying unconscious in the field after sexually assaulting her.

As the villagers and her parents began t look for her when she did not return home, the offenders, fearing that they would be exposed, decided to kill her. They allegedly hit her with sticks and later threw her in the furnace. Her half burnt body was later chopped into several pieces and dumped in a nearby pond.

Eight people, including the two key offenders, were arrested by the police. Those arrested also included two people who helped in disposing off the bodies, the wives of the offenders and two other family members on charges of aiding and abetting the crime.
