Madhya Pradesh BJP leader arrested for killing wife

A BJP leader from Madhya Pradesh has been arrested by the police on charges of killing his Muslim wife, a resident of Maharashtra, and dumping her body into a river.

According to the police sources, a BJP leader from Jabalpur, identified as Amit Sahu, and two others, were arrested by the Maharashtra police on Friday. All of them were later taken to Maharashtra on a transit remand.

Police sources said that Amit Sahu had married Sana Khan, who was also a BJP leader from Nagpur, around four months back in court.

Police said that Sana Khan was visiting Sahu in Jabalpur when she suddenly went missing on August two. The family members of Sana had alleged that Sahu could be behind her disappearance.

Sources said that Sana was Amit’s second wife. Amit had earlier married a police constable but she had left him after a few months.

After Sana’s disappearance, senior leader of the BJP’s minority cell Junaid Khan had written a letter to the Maharashtra deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and sought a CID probe into the matter.

Sources said that a team of Maharashtra and MP police raided the residence of Amit Sahu on Thursday but he was not there. Amit’s eatery located at Belkhadu was also raided but he could not be found.

Amit was later nabbed from a nearby place and arrested.

Police said that Amit’s servant had seen blood stains on the rear seat of his master’s car on the day Sana had gone missing. He had also enquired about the blood stains but was scolded by Amit.

Police said that Amit had admitted to killing Sana and dumping her body into the Hiran river. The body of the victim was yet to be traced, the police said.
