Liquor trader shot dead in broad day light in Rajasthan

A liquor trader was shot dead in full public view by unidentified assailants on a busy highway in Rajasthan.

According to the police sources, the liquor trader, identified as Luxman Dewasi, was travelling by his SUV when three unidentified car borne assailants overtook his vehicle on National Highway 68 near Sanchore and fired several shots at him.

The bullets went through the front windshield of the vehicle and hit Luxman, according to the eyewitnesses. Sources said that several bullets hit the liquor trader resulting in his death on the spot.

Footage captured by a CCTV camera installed in one of the shops directly across the road showed two assailants in mask firing shots at the SUV. They are seen firing several rounds.

Police said that a few bullets broke through the windshield and hit Luxman on the head who then slumped on one side of the seat. The assailants managed to flee from the spot after perpetrating the crime.

Luxman was rushed to a nearby private hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead, sources said.
Senior police officials rushed to the scene of crime and forensic teams were also deployed to gather evidence, the police said. So far the identity of the assailants was not known. ‘’We are trying to identify the assailants from the CCTV footage,’’ said a police official in Sanchore.

Police sources also said that the cops were also exploring any business rivalry angle. ‘’The killing could be the result of a business rivalry….we are investigating the incident from different angles and the culprits will soon be caught,’’ the official said.

The SUV, which was badly damaged in the attack, has been sent for forensic examination and the body was sent for post-mortem examination, the police added.
