Jilted lover kills girl, dies by suicide

A youth shot dead an 18-year old girl, allegedly after being spurned by her, in Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur town.

The youth, identified as Talib, a resident of the posh Idgah locality of the town, also later shot himself and died on the spot.

According to the police sources, Talib and the girl, who too lived in the same locality, had been having an affair. Off late, however, the girl had broken up though Talib continued to press her to marry him.

Sources said that on Saturday night, Talib knocked at the girl’s house and it was the girl who opened the door. Talib, who carried a pistol, shot the girl in the head. He later also shot himself in the head.

The locals rushed both of them to the hospital where the doctors declared them brought dead.

Police said that Talib took this extreme step after being spurned by the girl. Their bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.
