Authorities recovered gold worth over Rs three crore at the Jaipur International Airport from a passenger who was travelling from Dubai.

According to the official sources, gold weighing a little less than six kilogram was hidden by the passenger in the mixture-juicer.

Sources said that the DRI sleuths had received a tip-off that a man, who was a resident of Sikar district in Rajasthan and travelling from Dubai, was carrying a large quantity of gold.

The sleuths then went through the flight manifest and found that there were five passengers in the plane who hailed from Sikar.

The officials detailed all the five passengers for quizzing upon their arrival at the Jaipur International Airport on Friday. All the five, however, denied having gold, the sources said.

The officials then checked their luggage. During the checking, they found a mixture-juicer in the luggage of one of the passengers. It was packed.

The officials grew suspicious as they found that the weight of the mixture juicer was more than the usual. The tore open the packing and unearthed the gold hidden inside the same.

The passenger, whose identity was kept secret, was arrested and sent to jail on charges of smuggling gold, sources said.

It was also found that the passenger in question had earlier also travelled several times from Dubai and it was suspected that he might have smuggled gold earlier also though he denied having done so.

The officials said that a case had been registered in this connection and they were trying to ascertain if he had brought gold during his earlier journeys as well. They said that they were trying to gather more information in this regard and will further question the passenger to ascertain the facts about the matter.
