Cash and jewellery worth about Rs 14 lakh were stolen from a house in Yamunanagar district in Haryana.

According to the police sources the burglars broke the lock of the house and barged in at a time when the inmates had gone out.

Police said that the CCTV footage showed a man with a bag hanging over his shoulder. "It took less than an hour for the thieves to carry out the burglary and escape", said a police official.

Police said that cash worth eight lakh and jewellery worth Rs. Six lakh were stolen from the house.

Nancy, who lived in the house, said that the burglary took place when she was visiting her in-laws.

She said that the lock was broken and everything was scattered on the floor.

She said that the cash was intended to be used for the treatment of her ailing father-in-law.

Police said that a case was registered and a hunt was launched to nab the perpetrators.
