Auto driver rapes 16-year old in Chhattisgarh

A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by an auto driver in Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh, according to the police sources.

Police said that the driver, identified as Dilharan Yadav, a resident of Khajuri in the district, has been arrested.

Police said that the driver befriended the girl by offering her gifts. He had also gifted a pricey cell phone to her. The two used to talk for long hours over phone.

The matter came to light when the girl went missing a few days back and missing person report was lodged with the police her family members.

The case was later changed to kidnapping after all efforts to trace the girl proved futile, the police officials said.
During the investigation, the cops came to know about the girl’s friendship with the auto driver. The police later nabbed the driver from Jaraha Bhata area in Civil Lines in Bilaspur town.

A case of rape was registered against the auto driver after the girl, in her statement, said that he sexually assaulted her on the pretext of marrying her.
