27 killed as bus plunges into ravine in Mexico
The officials said that six of the injured were unconscious and in critical condition. All the injured were admitted to the hospital.
At least 27 passengers were killed and 17 others injured, some critically, when a bus carrying them plunged into a ravine in Oaxaca State of Mexico.
According to the police officials in Mexico, the mishap occurred when the ill-fated bus was on its way from Mexico City to Santiago de Yosondua.
The officials said that six of the injured were unconscious and in critical condition. All the injured were admitted to the hospital.
Images which appeared on social media showed the wreckage of the bus scattered around the bottom of a steep cliff. Relief and rescue operations were going in full swing.
The area where the accident took place is mountainous and had winding roads and steep ravines, the officials said.
Earlier also 31 people had been killed in two separate road accidents in Mexico in the past two months. Road accidents have registered a sharp increase in Mexico in the past few years primarily owing to poor road conditions and fast driving.
