According to some media reports, this time Opener Shubman Gill, who is in top form, may not play this time because he had dengue three days ago. Both captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid say that Gill cannot be ruled out right now. However, if Gill does not play, Ishan Kishan can be given a chance in his place.

India had won Asia Cup 2023 previously by defeating Sri Lanka.

Both the teams had played 149 One day matches with each other in which Australia had won 83 and India had won 56 matches. 10 matches were neutral.
