Classical singer Ustad Rashid Khan has passed away at the age of 55. He took his last breath in a hospital at Kolkata on Tuesday. He was battling with prostate cancer. His health started deteriorating in December.

According to media reports, he had been admitted to the hospital on December 23. For the last few days, he was admitted to ICU and was on a ventilator. Initially, he was treated at Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital in Mumbai, but later he returned to Kolkata.

Ustad Rashid Khan was born in Badaun, Uttar Pradesh. He took training from his maternal grandfather, Ustad Nisar Hussain Khan. Rashid Khan's first stage performance was at the age of 11. He was a singer of Rampur-Sahaswan Gharana. He also lent his voice in films. The bandish song 'Aaoge Jab Tum Saajna' sung by him in 'Jab We Met' was quite popular.

Talking about the popular songs of the musician, he sang a super hit song 'Tore Bina Mohe Chain'. He had also given his voice in Shahrukh Khan's film 'My Name Is' Khan. Not only this, Ustad Rashid Khan has also spread the magic of his voice in films like 'Raaz 3', 'Kadambari', 'Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana', 'Manto' to 'Meetin Mass'.

Ustad Rashid Khan, who mesmerized the music world with his voice, was awarded Padmashree and Padma Bhushan. Rashid's music career started at the age of 11. The composer also composed many Bengali songs.
