Mukesh Ambani becomes second most powerful CEO in world

Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited, has secured the second position in the Brand Guardianship Index 2024 for the second consecutive year. He left behind Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Apple's Tim Cook and Tesla's Elon Musk.

With this, he has also become the top ranked CEO in the category of 'Diversified' group. In the list released by Brand Finance, Mukesh Ambani has been placed first in the list of Indians and second at the global level. Tecent's CEO Huateng Ma stood first in this list.

Brand Finance gave Ambani a BGI score of 80.3, which is slightly lower than Huateng Ma's score of 81.6. Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran has reached the fifth position. He was at number eight in the ranking of 2023. Whereas, Anish Shah of Mahindra & Mahindra has secured sixth rank. After him, Salil Parekh of Infosys remained at 16th position.

The Brand Guardianship Index recognizes CEOs who effectively create business value while considering the interests of all stakeholders, employees, investors and society at large. The Brand Finance survey evaluates CEOs based on a balanced scorecard that measures their ability to steward their company's brand and long-term value.

Reliance Industries Limited had announced the results for the third quarter of the financial year 2023-24 on January 19, 2024. The company's net profit in the October-December quarter (Q3FY24) increased by 9.3% year-on-year (YoY) to Rs 17,265 crore. A year ago, in Q3FY23, the company had registered a net profit of Rs 15,792 crore. Whereas in the last quarter i.e. Q2FY24, the net profit of the company was Rs 17,394 crore.
