The country's oldest airline Air India has implemented a new uniform for its pilots and crew members.

The airline has got its new dress designed by a famous fashion designer of the country.

This is the first time that the airline has changed the staff uniform after six decades of its establishment in 1932.

This change has been made at a time when the airline is bringing Vistara under its control through merger. According to media reports, the new uniform will be made mandatory by the end of this year.

The airline had appointed fashion designer Manish Malhotra to design a new red, brinjal and gold colored uniform for its more than 10,000 flight crew, ground staff and security personnel. The company said in a statement that the new colors of the uniform represent a confident and vibrant new India.

In an official statement issued by the company, the airline said that the new livery is another step in the expression of Air India's new global brand identity as part of its ongoing modernization programme. Air India hopes to introduce the new look for its uniformed employees by the end of 2023. Air India is working on an ambitious revamp plan and ordered 470 planes from Boeing and Airbus earlier this year.

Campbell Wilson, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Air India, said, “The Air India crew uniform is one of the world's most iconic uniforms in aviation history, and we strongly believe that Manish Malhotra's innovative livery will shape the future of Air India. “Will write an exciting new chapter for.” “It perfectly reflects the essence of our new identity, service principles and our endeavor to set new standards in global aviation.”

Meanwhile, designer Manish Malhotra said that he is honored to get the opportunity to design the uniform for Air India. It is a privilege to be able to contribute as the national flag bearer and showcase the grandeur and charm of Indian fashion. My aim was to create a uniform that reflected the essence of India's diverse culture and traditions while also giving a modern and sophisticated look.
