Missing Rs 500 currency notes report false-RBI
A report published in a section of the press claimed that the information had been obtained through an RTI query. It said that Rs 500 currency notes worth Rs 87032 crore were missing
The Reserve Bank of India has refuted reports that 500 currency notes worth Rs 88032 crore have been missing.
In a press release, the Bank said that some media reports falsely claimed that 500 currency notes worth Rs 88032 crore were missing from the printing press.
A report published by The Free Journal on Saturday said that through Right to Information Act by activist Manoranjan Roy said that Rs87032.50 crore worth Rs500 were missing. It was known by three printing press that they designed 8810.65 million pieces of new Rs500 notes. However RBI records showed that 7260 million pieces were received in 2016-17.
RBI urged the people to believe only the information given by the Bank.
