Aadhaar card no more required for Birth, Death certificate

According to the notification the Electronics and Information Technology Ministry has allowed the Registrar General of India to use data base for identity verification during death and birth registration process.

Aadhaar card is no longer essential for registration of birth and death certificate.

Giving a huge relief to the people the central government has done away with the mandatory Aadhaar card number for registration for birth and death certificate.

A notification to this effect was issued on June 27th.

According to the notification the Electronics and Information Technology Ministry has allowed the Registrar General of India to use data base for identity verification during death and birth registration process.

For this, the State Governments will prepare a proposal to use Aadhaar verification to justify it and submit it to the Centre.

IT ministry had modified the rules in 2020, in which it was said that in order to promote good governance, prevent wastage of public money and promote ease of living, Aadhaar verification can be accepted.
