On the day of Dhanteras and Diwali, Goddess Lakshmi, Ganesh ji, Kuber and Goddess Saraswati are worshipped. For Diwali puja, people buy new idols of Goddess Lakshmi and Ganesh ji and install them in the puja room.

But it is important to know when to buy Lakshmi-Ganesh idol for Diwali puja. What things should be kept in mind while buying Lakshmi-Ganesh idol?

You can purchase the idol of Lakshmi-Ganesh for Diwali puja from Dhanteras to Diwali. However, if you buy the idol of Lakshmi-Ganesh on the day of Dhanteras, it will be better because on the day of Dhan Trayodashi, the feet of Goddess Lakshmi will fall in your house, due to which there will be wealth, happiness and prosperity throughout the year.

Shopping time on Dhanteras: 12:35 pm till night

Auspicious time on Diwali: 11:43 AM to 12:27 PM, however, Ayushman and Saubhagya Yoga is formed throughout the day, so you can do the puja from morning till before.

6 things to be kept in mind while buying Lakshmi-Ganesh idol:

1. For Diwali puja, one should buy the idol of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha sitting on a lotus. Do not buy a standing Ganpati idol.

2. Keep in mind that the color of the idol should not be dull or blurred. The eyes, ears, nose etc. of Goddess Lakshmi and Ganesh ji should be properly made in the idol.

3. The idol should be in a happy posture, which proves to increase the happiness and prosperity of your home. Do not buy a fierce or dull idol.

4. The idol should not be broken for worship. Worship of broken idol is prohibited in the scriptures. In such a situation, keep in mind that the idols of Lakshmi and Ganesh you are buying should not be broken anywhere.

5. Colors should also be kept in mind while selecting the idol. You should buy only those idols whose color is red, pink or yellow. Do not take black, brown or beige colored idols.

6. For Diwali puja, take the idol of Lord Ganesha in which his trunk is bent towards the left. All the rules have to be followed while worshiping the idol with right trunk. Lord Ganesha becomes unhappy when there is a mistake in worship.
