Will kill American citizens... US Consulate receives bomb threat, case registered

Mumbai's BKC (Bandra Kurla Complex) police on Saturday registered an FIR against an unidentified person for allegedly sending a threatening email to the office of the US Consulate General, officials said.

The US Consulate General Office in Mumbai has received a bomb threat. This threat has been received through an anonymous email. Mumbai Police has registered a case against an unknown person in this regard and the investigation is ongoing.

Mumbai's BKC (Bandra Kurla Complex) police on Saturday registered an FIR against an unidentified person for allegedly sending a threatening email to the office of the US Consulate General, officials said.

According to Mumbai Police, the threatening email was sent from rkgtrading777@gamil.com around 3.50 am on Saturday. Officials said that on the information of the Consulate, a case has been registered against unknown person at BKC police station under sections 505(1)(b) and 506(2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), further investigation is underway.

In the email, the unidentified accused claimed to be an absconding US citizen, the official said. He also threatened to blow up the US Consulate and kill all the American citizens working there. The police is investigating the case to arrest the accused as soon as possible.

In the last few months, cases of receiving threatening calls, messages and emails have increased significantly in Mumbai. A message threatening to terrorize Mumbai also came on 2 February.

An unknown person had claimed to have planted six bombs in Mumbai city. After this message, Mumbai Crime Branch and Maharashtra ATS (Anti-Terrorism Squad) came into alert mode.

According to officials, this message was received by the Mumbai Traffic Police Control Room. The suspect had claimed that bombs had been planted at six places in Mumbai and there would be a big explosion. After this, as a precaution, Mumbai Police also checked at some important places, but nothing was found anywhere.
