"Vladimir Putin completely fit": Russia rejects speculations about his health

Journalists asked Peskov about Putin's health after an unsourced report from a Russian Telegram channel, picked up by some Western media, said the president had suffered a serious health problem on Sunday evening.

The Kremlin has categorically rejected speculation about President Vladimir Putin's health.

In a statement it said that he is fit and completely fine. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, speaking to the reporters, also refuted suggestions that the president was using body doubles, calling it absurd.

Journalists asked Peskov about Putin's health after an unsourced report from a Russian Telegram channel, picked up by some Western media, said the president had suffered a serious health problem on Sunday evening.

Vladimir Putin turned 71 on October 7. He keeps a busy schedule of meetings and public events. Many of which are broadcast on television.

His recent itinerary included a trip to China last week, with stops in two Russian cities on the way back.

In a 2020 interview, Putin denied long-standing rumors that he used a body double, although he said he had been given the opportunity to use one in the past for security reasons.

Peskov said, "The talk about body doubles is another lie and Putin is in good health.

Putin’s health has been a subject of speculations in the western media with many of them claiming that he had been suffering from serious diseases something the Russia has summarily rejected.

The speculations came amid the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine in which the USA and the western countries have been supporting Ukraine and supplying it with weapons and money. Russia has said that continued western aid to Ukraine will only prolong the war the sufferings of the Ukrainian people.
