Thailand has approved a 60-day visa-free stay for Indian passport holders starting February 13, 2026. Indians can also extend this stay by another 30 days. This replaces the earlier 30-day visa-on-arrival system. In short, Indians can now stay longer, with less paperwork, and easier digital entry.

What Exactly Has Changed?

Thailand’s Cabinet cleared a major visa reform. Indian travellers are now included in the new “Form 60” list that covers 93 nationalities eligible for longer visa-free entry. Earlier, Indians had to apply for visa on arrival and were allowed just 30 days.

Now, you land in Bangkok or Phuket, complete the digital arrival process, and you are allowed to stay up to 60 days without a visa. If you want more time, a 30-day extension is possible under local immigration rules. That’s nearly three months in total, which is huge for families and long holidays.

Digital Entry and Fewer Forms

Thailand is also going fully digital. The Thailand Digital Arrival Card, known as TDAC, will replace old paper forms at airports. Entry will feel smoother. Less waiting, less confusion.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also reduced non-immigrant visa categories from 17 to 7. E-visa services are now available at almost all Thai embassies and consulates worldwide. It sounds small, but it makes things simpler for business travellers.

What Is the Destination Thailand Visa?

Along with the 60-day visa-free stay, Thailand has introduced the Destination Thailand Visa, or DTV. This is designed for digital nomads, freelancers, and remote workers. It is a one-year, multi-entry visa. Each stay can go up to 180 days.

Income must be earned outside Thailand. That rule is clear. Still, it removes the old problem of doing quick border runs every month. For Indian tech workers and creators, this makes Thailand even more attractive.

Why This Matters for Indian Travellers

Indian travel to Thailand has bounced back strongly after Covid. In 2025, over two million Indians visited. Many go for short trips, weddings, business events, or simple beach breaks. Now, longer stays are possible without extra stress.

Airlines are already adding more flights between Indian cities and Thai destinations. More seats usually means better fares, though that depends on season.

This move is clearly aimed at boosting tourism and long-stay visitors. For Indians, it feels like a welcome gesture. Fewer forms, more days, better flexibility. If Thailand was already on your travel list, now it just became easier to say yes.
