India-US join hands to enhance counter terrorism cooperation

New Delhi: India and the US signed, on Tuesday, an agreement to share real time terrorist screening and exchange of information on so that prevention measures can be taken on time.

  • The agreement was signed between the two countries to enhance the counter terrorism cooperation .
  • The agreement was signed by Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi and US ambassador to India Richard Verma.
  • The database will help security agencies to keep an eye on suspicious travellers.
  • The agreement will provide each other access to terrorism screening information through the designated contact points, subject to domestic laws and regulations.
  • The Modi government had recently decided not to join a global terror database maintained by the US after the security agencies raised objections over it.
