Four killed and over 250 people injured in a Typhoon in Taiwan

At least four people were killed and more than 250 others injured on Tuesday as the Typhoon Megi hit the city with the strong wind blowing at a speed of 162 kilometres per hour. Among the dead was a 17-year-old boy who lost his life as his boat overturned

Taipei: At least four people were killed and more than 250 others injured on Tuesday as the Typhoon Megi hit the city with the strong wind blowing at a speed of 162 kilometres per hour.

Among the dead was a 17-year-old boy who lost his life as his boat overturned. According to the officials, he hailed from South Taiwan."

The injured includes eight Japanese Tourist travelling in a bus which overturned in the city.

According to the Central Emergency Operation Centre,

  • More than 11,000 people have been evacuated to safety.

  • Around two millions households were left without electricity.
  • 400 international and domestic flights have been cancelled till Thursday.

  • Metro trains and Bus services were halted as the roads were flooded.
