Seventy Six dead in Columbia Air plane crash, five rescued alive

Colombia Plane Crash: Air plane carrying Brazil Football team crashed

Bogota (Colombia): As many as 76 people were killed in a plane crash in Cerro Gordo, part of the municipality of La Union in Colombia on Tuesday. The rescue team has evacuated five people safely to the nearby hospital.

The plane, which was travelling from Bolivia to flying to José María Córdova International Airport in Rionegro, was carrying finalists for the South American Football Championship along with 72 other passengers and 9 crew members. The survivors include footballers Danilo, Follmann, Alan Rushel, journalist Rafael Henzel and crew member Ximena Suárez. They are currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in La Ceja.

  • The city’s mayor, Federico Gutierrez said," It was possible there were survivors but admitted." "It's a tragedy of huge proportions", he said.
  • The team was schedule to participate in Copa Sudamericana 2016.
  • Local fire and rescue services have been rushed to the area to evacuate people from the seen.
