43 killed, 100 injured in Iran as train rams into other

Tehran: At least 43 people have lost their lives while 100 others sustained injuries when one train rammed into another at Haft-Khan train station in Semnan’s province of Iran here.

The parked train was on a main rail line at the time accident which took place at 07:45 am on Friday. The injured were rushed to the nearby hospitals. Among the dead, four were railway employees, said reports.

The cause of the mishap is still under investigation. Helicopters and ambulances jointly carried out a rescue operation.
