The monsoon has almost fully retreated from North India however, rain continues in parts of eastern, western, and southern India. The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall in some districts of Uttar Pradesh during Navratri, prompting the issue of a yellow alert.
According to the IMD, on Friday, September 26, 2025, some districts of UP may experience heavy rainfall during Navratri. Citizens are advised to remain alert during this period. In the state capital, Lucknow, light rain is expected.
As of today, September 26, no rain alert has been issued across Uttar Pradesh. The IMD has placed all districts under the green zone, meaning there is no likelihood of rainfall. However, rising temperatures and heat may cause discomfort. It's worth noting that the state witnessed heavy rainfall in August, leading to floods in several areas.
What to Expect in Lucknow Today?
Sunny weather will prevail in Lucknow for most of the day. The overall forecast suggests clear skies. IMD predicts a very low chance of rainfall today, though some rain may occur in the next 2–3 days.
Due to morning sunshine, the day could feel hot, but temperatures will drop by night, bringing some relief. The maximum temperature is expected to be between 34°C and 35°C, while the minimum may range between 27°C and 28°C.
Weather Conditions in Other Districts of UP
Most parts of the state are expected to remain dry on September 26. However, light drizzle or brief showers may occur in some eastern districts. According to weather experts, due to a cyclonic system affecting the plateaus and lower plains of Eastern UP, occasional thunderclouds are possible. In the next 24 to 48 hours, light to moderate rain may occur in certain parts of the state.
Rain chances in Lucknow on September 26 are minimal. In Eastern UP, a few places may experience light drizzle, but no heavy rain is expected. According to weather reports, the southwest monsoon is gradually retreating from Uttar Pradesh. The complete withdrawal from eastern UP may continue for another one to two weeks. It is likely that the monsoon will fully retreat from the state by early October, though the process appears slightly delayed this year.
For now, Lucknow and nearby areas are expected to remain hot and dry today, with very low chances of rainfall. Maximum temperature will likely stay around 34–35°C, and minimum temperature around 27–28°C. Eastern districts may see occasional light rain or thunder, but widespread or intense rainfall is not expected. The monsoon's effect is gradually decreasing in UP.
