Weather Today (PC- Social Media)

Uttar Pradesh is seeing harsh winter conditions as thick fog covers Lucknow and many other districts, with dense fog alerts issued for 38 areas and warnings of rising cold. Visibility has dropped badly in several cities, while temperatures are expected to fall further in the next two days.

Lucknow Wakes Up To Thick Fog And Cold Air

The capital city Lucknow started the day wrapped in heavy fog. Roads, buildings, and open areas looked blurred since early morning. Along with fog, people felt sharp cold in the air. Westerly winds have increased the chill, making mornings and nights uncomfortable. Many commuters faced trouble due to low visibility on roads.

Zero Visibility In Some Major Cities

Several districts in Uttar Pradesh experienced extremely dense fog. In Agra, Bareilly, Prayagraj, and Moradabad, visibility dropped close to zero in many places. In Agra, the fog remained even till afternoon, which is unusual. Cities like Varanasi, Aligarh, and Etawah reported visibility around fifty meters, making driving risky and slow.

Weather Department Issues Orange And Yellow Alerts

The weather department has issued an orange alert for extremely dense fog in areas like Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Agra, Etawah, Bijnor, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, and nearby regions. At the same time, a yellow alert has been issued for dense fog in 38 other districts across the state. These alerts mean people should stay cautious, especially during early morning and late-night hours.

Why Cold Is Increasing Across Uttar Pradesh

According to senior scientists at the Regional Meteorological Centre in Lucknow, the wind direction has changed again to westerly. These winds are colder and sharper. Because of this, the feeling of chill has increased across Uttar Pradesh. Over the next two days, wind speed is expected to rise slowly, which may reduce fog slightly but will also bring a drop in temperature.

Temperature Likely To Fall Further

Weather experts say that temperatures may drop by two to four degrees Celsius in many parts of the state. Nights will feel colder, and mornings will stay foggy. Even though fog intensity may reduce a bit later, cold conditions are expected to stay strong. People sensitive to cold, especially children and elderly, may feel more discomfort.

Many Districts Under Dense Fog Watch

Dense fog is expected in districts like Kaushambi, Fatehpur, Pratapgarh, Sonbhadra, Chandauli, Varanasi, Bhadohi, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Rae Bareli, Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura, Hathras, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Auraiya, Amroha, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Sambhal, Badaun and nearby areas.

Advice For People During Fog And Cold

During such weather, people are advised to avoid unnecessary travel early in the morning. Drivers should use fog lights and keep speed low. Warm clothing is important as cold conditions may worsen. Keeping track of weather updates can help people plan their day safely.

Cold Wave To Stay For Now

Uttar Pradesh is fully under winter’s grip right now. Dense fog, low visibility, and falling temperatures are likely to continue for a few more days. While fog may slowly reduce, the cold is here to stay, so residents should stay alert and prepared.
