Rail safety commissioner orders statutory enquiry into Kanpur derailment

Kanpur: PK Acharya, the Commissioner, Railway Safety, Eastern Circle, Kolkata will hold the statutory enquiry into accident of Indore-Patna Express at Pukhrayan near Kanpur.

He will hold the enquiry at Kanpur Central railway station on Monday and Tuesday, north central railway spokesperson said.

This will be in addition to other departmental enquiry ordered by ministry of railways.

It may be recalled that at least 117 people have been killed and over 200 injured after 14 coaches of Patna-bound 19321 Indore-Patna Express derailed on Saturday midnight.
