Murder accused Amanmani Tripathi files nomination for UP Polls

Gorakhpur/Maharajganj: Amanmani Tripathi, who is accused of killing his wife Sara Singh, filed his nomination paper as an independent candidate from Nautanwa assembly constituency here on Monday.

The son of former minister Amarmani Tripathi, who was found guilty of murdering his wife Madhumita Shukla, came out of jail on parole to file the nomination papers.

Amanmani was arrested in involvement with the murder of his wife Sara by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). She was killed in a road accident in Firozabad. Subsequently, her mother had blamed Amanmani of killing her daughter.

Earlier, Samajwadi Party had given its party ticket to Amanmani, but later quashed his nomination, to elevate Munna Singh as its new candidate from the Nautanwa constituency.

It may be mentioned that in 2007, Amanmani's father Amarmani had also contested elections despite being in jail and had emerged victorious.
