Meerut has entered a new phase of connectivity. The full 82.15 km high-speed corridor linking Delhi, Ghaziabad and Meerut is now open. Around 70 km runs elevated and 12 km underground. The project, built at nearly Rs 30,274 crore, connects key stations smoothly.

One special feature stands out. At selected stations like Sarai Kale Khan, Anand Vihar, Ghaziabad and Meerut, metro, railway and bus services are integrated. In some sections, Namo Bharat and metro trains run on the same track and platform. That means a passenger can travel within the city and also reach Delhi without switching stations. That kind of planning was missing earlier, many would agree.

“Projects Don’t Hang Anymore”

PM Modi said earlier governments allowed infrastructure projects to get stuck in delays and corruption. According to him, metro technology was largely imported before. Now India is moving toward self-reliance while expanding networks rapidly.

He pointed out that India today has the third largest metro network in the world. In the past 11 years, metro lines have reached dozens of cities. Uttar Pradesh alone is seeing metro work in multiple cities. The tone was firm. Development, he suggested, is no longer slow.

Sharp Attack on Congress

The Prime Minister did not hold back politically. He accused Congress of turning global events into political arenas. Referring to a recent AI summit in Delhi attended by delegates from over 80 countries, he said such platforms represent national pride, not party interest.

He claimed Congress has become a burden on the country and engages in negative politics. He also said opposition parties criticized Congress openly after recent controversies. His words were direct and strong, clearly aimed at energising supporters.

Global Confidence in India

Another big theme of the speech was India’s rising global image. PM Modi said developed countries are eager to sign trade agreements with India now. He contrasted this with earlier years when, he claimed, corruption scandals made global partners hesitant.

He said the world sees opportunity in India’s youth and growth story. According to him, India is seen as a solution provider for 21st century challenges. That confidence, he added, is not accidental but built on reforms and stable governance.

Focus on Farmers and Legacy

The Prime Minister also mentioned Bharat Ratna awarded to Chaudhary Charan Singh. He said the region had long been connected to the former leader’s vision. Under current schemes like PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, farmers in Uttar Pradesh have received nearly Rs 95,000 crore so far.

This was presented as proof that development is not limited to cities. Rural support, infrastructure and global outreach are being pushed together. That balance was stressed repeatedly.

Meerut’s rapid rail and metro launch signals more than a transport upgrade. It reflects how infrastructure is being positioned as proof of governance. At the same time, sharp political lines remain visible. Development and debate, both are moving fast. Whether voters focus more on connectivity gains or political clashes, that will unfold in time.
