Meerut, August 26: The closure of the Meerut City Post Office and ATM has caused significant inconvenience to the local residents. In response to this, former BJP MP from Meerut, Rajendra Kumar Agarwal, has written a formal letter to the Minister of Railways, Communications, and Electronics & Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, requesting the smooth reopening and operation of the Meerut City Post Office.

In his letter to the Union Minister, former MP Rajendra Kumar Agarwal mentioned that the Meerut City Post Office, located at Ghantaghar, has been a vital facility for the densely populated areas of Meerut. Earlier this year, the post office was closed due to cracks that appeared when a multi-story commercial building was being constructed adjacent to it. The department had inspected the site and assured that the post office would be reconstructed. However, no construction work has been initiated on the post office building so far, which is preventing the proper functioning of the Meerut City Post Office. The shutdown of the post office and ATM has left the local residents facing considerable difficulties.

Former MP Rajendra Agarwal emphasized that the Meerut City Post Office has played a crucial role in the development of Meerut, providing services such as import-export trade, insurance, Kisan Vikas Patra, and banking. He has requested the Union Minister to expedite the reconstruction of the post office property and ensure its smooth operation.

It’s worth noting that Rajendra Agarwal has been highly active in Uttar Pradesh politics. He was elected as a Lok Sabha MP from Meerut three consecutive times. He also served as the Chairman of the Joint Committee on the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016, and was a member of the advisory committees for the Ministries of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, and Drinking Water and Sanitation. Although his ticket was cut this time, and TV’s “Ram” Arun Govil was fielded in his place, Rajendra Kumar Agarwal remains active in addressing various public issues related to Meerut.
