Make arrangements, step up security ahead of festivals: CM Yogi to officials

Directs to supply drinking water from Jamrar Dam to Madhya Pradesh’s Tikamgarh

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday directed the senior officers posted in commissionerates and districts to beef up security and make arrangements for the upcoming festivals and events like Ganga Dussehra, Bakrid, Bada Mangal, Moharram, International Yoga Day and Kanwar Yatra from June 15 to June 22.

In a law and order review meeting through video conferencing, the CM told the officers that this period is highly sensitive in terms of law and order. The government and administration must remain in an active mode round the clock.

He asked the officers of the concerned departments to run a special drive across the state for cleaning of ghats of the Ganga river in view of Ganga Dussehra, with designated bathing areas clearly marked. Divers, PAC flood units, and NDRF and SDRF teams should be deployed for vigilance, he added.

The CM instructed the power department officials not to impose unnecessary power cuts amid the intense heat and swiftly resolve issues related to transformer failures or other faults.

Officials at the police station, circle, district, range, zone, and division levels should engage with religious leaders and prominent civil society members in their areas should disseminate positive message to the public and hold peace committee meetings to foster an atmosphere of peace and harmony, Adityanath said.

Places for sacrifice on Bakrid should be marked in advance and sacrifice should not be done at disputed or sensitive places, he said, adding that banned animal are not sacrificed.

Efforts must be made to prevent incidents that could offend the sentiments of people from other religions, he said, asking the officials to maintain vigilance against mischievous elements attempting to provoke tensions among communities. Additional police force should be deployed in sensitive areas and regular foot patrolling should be conducted every evening, the CM added.

Complaints received at the Janata Darshan programmes in districts are being reviewed, he said, adding that the accountability of officers will be decided according to the area from which more complaints are received.

Official phones have been issued to officers deployed in the field for public accessibility. These phones must remain operational 24×7. Every officer should personally attend calls received on this line. If unable to answer immediately, prompt callbacks are essential. Maintain regular communication with public representatives, listen to their concerns and expectations, and resolve issues based on their merits.

Yoga Week’ should be celebrated from June 15 to June 21 to mark the International Yoga Day and celebrations should be organised in all gram panchayats and urban areas, he instructed. All the ministers, local public representatives should be actively engaged in yoga initiatives, the CM said. The district magistrates, he emphasised, should take personal interest in improving the management of destitute cow shelters.

Extending help to address the severe water crisis in Tikamgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to supply drinking water from the Jamrar Dam. The decision came after MP CM Mohan Yadav wrote a letter to Adityanath seeking assistance.
