CM announces ex-gratia payment of Rs 20 lakhs to UP martyrs

Srinagar: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav announced here on Monday that ex-gratia payment of Rs 20 lakhs would be made to each of four out of 17 jawans who belonged to this state and who were killed in Uri attack by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir early in the morning.

The martyrs, Ganesh Shankar, hailed from Santkabir Nagar, R K Yadav, Harindar Yadav and K R Singh from Balia, Ghazipur and Jaunpur districts, respectively.

Large crowds had collected at their residences in the state. Many of them were seen crying. Of the four, Ganesh Shankar was shifted from Bengal to Uri on August 22. Father of three, Ganesh had talked to his family members only a week back. His last rites will be performed in his ancestral v illage,Ghurapali.
