Constitution does not provide for reservation in minority institutions

Allahabad: The present Indian constitution which has been amended several times has not favoured quota system in education. Keeping this in mind the, Allahabad High Court on Thursday rejected the petition for reservation in a minority institutions in Uttar Pradesh.

A two-judge bench of the court consisting of justice Arun Tandon and justice Sunita Agrawal said that this kind of demand was unconstitutional.

The plea made by the petitioner, Rahul Yadav, was that since the minority institutions enjoyed a special status they should derive the benefits of the reservation policy enforced in the country.
