Flood situation worsens in Allahabad, Army put on alert

Allahabad: The floods water have entered many residential localities in Allahabad while the sprawling Kumbh area on the banks of Sangam, the confluence of holy river of Ganga, Yamuna and mythical Saraswati, has already been under waters as both the major rivers are flowing above the danger marks in the Sangam city.
Round the clock relief and rescue operations are underway, the army has been put on alert and the district administration has ordered closure of all the educational institutions for two days in view of the floods. The relief and evacuation work has been in the place using two helicopters and over one hundred country boats while the District Magistrate Sanjay Kumar is personally supervising the relief and rescue work.
