The Samajwadi Party (SP) has alleged that the Facebook account of its leader, Akhilesh Yadav, has been suspended, accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of attempting to suppress opposition voices. Party leaders have termed the suspension an "attack on democracy," demanding immediate reinstatement of the account.

SP leader Fakhrul Hasan Chaand posted on social media, stating, "The suspension of the Facebook account of the respected national president of the country's third-largest party, Shri Akhilesh Yadav ji, is an attack on democracy. The BJP government has imposed an undeclared emergency in the country, where it wants to suppress every voice raised in opposition." He further emphasized that the SP would continue to oppose the BJP's policies.

Rajeev Rai, National Secretary of the Samajwadi Party, condemned the action, calling it a blow to India's democratic system. He suggested that if the suspension was influenced by the ruling party, it would be a sign of cowardice and an attempt to suppress the voice of socialists.

Pooja Shukla, SP MLA from Lucknow North, criticized Facebook for suspending Akhilesh Yadav's account without any warning or notice. She described the action as an overstep by Facebook, asserting that the platform cannot silence democracy.

The Samajwadi Party has called on Facebook to respect its boundaries and restore the account, asserting that such actions cannot be tolerated.

Attempts to access Akhilesh Yadav's Facebook page have resulted in errors, with messages indicating that the content isn't available or that the page has been deleted. As of now, Facebook has not provided an official statement regarding the suspension.

This incident has sparked a political controversy, with the SP alleging that the suspension is politically motivated and part of a broader strategy to curb dissent and opposition expression online. The party has demanded the reinstatement of the account and criticized the apparent suppression of democratic freedoms.
