The World Photography Day began with the invention of Daguerreotype. It is a photographic process which was invented by Louis-Jacques-Mande-Daguerre introduced in 1839 and on August 19, 1839, the French Government announced the invention of Daguerreotype as a gift to the world.

The World Photography Day was celebrated for the first time on August 19, 2010.

Here is the first photograph or what can called the earliest photograph which was taken by Joseph Nicephore Niepce in 1826. The image shows the upstair window at Niepce’s estate, Le Gras, in the Burgundy region of France.

The first color Photograph was taken by James Clerk Maxwell, the mathematical physicist in 1861. The photograph shows a three color bow.

The first photograph of a Cape Canaveral launch was snapped in July 1950. The rocket which was launched was known as Bumper-2. It was a two stage-stage rocket comprising a V-2 missile based on a WAC Corporal rocket.

The first photograph of a human was captured by Louis Daguerre at the Boulevard du Temple in Paris, France.

Robert Cornelius was the first person to take the world’s first self portrait in Philadelphia. Cornelius sat in front of the lens and covered the lens. This photograph was captured 185 years ago in 1839.
