BJP leader Jitendra Jaiswal awarded lifer in murder case in UP

Gorakhpur: Former Samajwadi Party (SP) Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Jitendra Kumar Jaiswal (aka Pappu Bhaiya) and co-accused Meraj have been awarded life imprisonment in a murder case by a local court of Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday.

The Additional District Judge (ADJ) has sentenced the accused to lifer as well as imposed a fine of Rs 20,000. In case the money is not deposited, they will have to undergo another six months of imprisonment.

They have been accused of murdering Ghusad village chief Khaderu in 1994.

  • Jaiswal served as a Minister of States for Sports in the Samajwadi Party government.
  • He is one of the biggest liquor barons of Uttar Pradesh.
