EgyptAir flight MS804: Smoke detected in toilet before crash

Cairo: Smoke was detected within the cabin of EgyptAir flight MS804 before it crashed into the Mediterranean Sea on Thursday, confirmed investigators.

“Smoke detectors went off in the aircraft’s electrics, few minutes before the signal was lost,” said an investigation official.

Highlights:

  • A spokesman for French investigators said it was too early to conclude the cause of crash.
  • The flight was en route from Paris to Cairo with 66 people on board.
  • According to the investigators, there was a smoke alert in the Airbus A320 toilet before losing signal.
