Cyclone Ockhi likely to make landfall in Gujarat on Tuesday midnight

Surat: Cyclone Ockhi, which has already caused huge destruction in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Lakshadweep, is expected to make landfall in Gujarat on Tuesday night.

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the cyclone which is 300 kms west of Mumbai's coast, is expected to bring heavy rains to the poll-bound state and adjoining Maharashtra.

The department further claimed that the cyclone is expected to continue to keep moving North-North Eastward and weaken gradually.

Maharashtra has ordered all the schools and colleges, including those in Mumbai and adjoining areas, to remain shut on Tuesday following the forecast of Cyclone Ockhi.

The Home Ministry has claimed that Cyclone Ockhi is likely to be less effective in Gujarat.

The cyclone is expected to hit the state’s coastal area in Surat city on Tuesday midnight.
