Update: 2018-05-12 11:07 GMT

Bengaluru: As the Karnataka is voting to elect the 15th Assembly, there is a war of words going on the micro-blogging site Twitter.

People are not only tweeting in favour of their party but also criticising its opponents in their tweets.

With this war of words, two 'hash tags' started trending on the social platform on the day of polling on Saturday.

One hash tag is favouring Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) while the other is supporting the ruling Congress party. Soon these hash tags became the top 'India trends' on the site.

The hash tags are #KarnatakVotesForCongress and #Vote4ChangeVote4BJP. As far as the number battle is concerned, BJP has defeated Congress with a huge margin, at least, on the Twitter.

Where there were over 28.2k tweets with #KarnatakVotesForCongress, #Vote4ChangeVote4BJP has been tweeted more than 42.7k times.

Well, it will be interesting to see if this Twitter victory will have any similarity with the poll results when announced on May 15.
