Famous Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan today tried to refute the viral video in which he is purportedly shown brutally beating a man with a shoe. Regarding the video, he claims that the person is his disciple. The video shows the popular qawwali singer being repeatedly hit and slapped while being interrogated about the "bottle". The man is seen pleading with the singer saying that he has no knowledge about it. In the second scene, some people were seen trying to pull the singer to save the disciple.

Pakistan's Sama TV identified the man as an employee of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and said such violent behavior among singers is a worrying trend. Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was caught misbehaving with his domestic helper. Later he also gave clarification.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, nephew of famous qawwali singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, later clarified that it was a personal matter between "the maestro and his shagird (teacher and disciple)". To explain his actions, he posted a video, which showed the man he was seen beating. His father was also shown.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan said in the video, "This is a personal issue between a master and a disciple. He is like my son. This is the relationship between a master and his disciple. If a disciple does something good, then I shower my love on him. If he does anything wrong, he is punished." Rahat Fateh Ali Khan said that he has also apologized to the disciple after the incident.

In the video, the disciple who was beaten admitted that he had lost a bottle containing holy water - which led to the incident, but clarified that there was no ill intention behind his actions. He said, "He is like my father. He loves us very much. Whoever spread this video is trying to defame my master." The protégé's father also supported Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, highlighting the relationship between 'Ustad and protégé' in the field of Qawwali.
