The safety feature, 'Guardian' uses real-time data from rides to automatically detect unexpected route deviations or irregular trip activity, including prolonged stops. After Perth, Australia, Ola has now launched the feature in 16 Indian cities and aims to take 'Guardian' to more cities in the coming quarter.

To procure the passengers' safety, the alerts from 'Guardian' are flagged off in real-time to Ola's 24x7 dedicated "Safety Response Team". The team reaches out to customers and drivers to confirm if they're safe and also offer them on-the-call assistance until ride completion.
'Guardian', the security feature in Ola is built on machine learning (ML) capabilities which enables it to learn and evolve from millions of data points every day to improve risk signaling and instant resolution.
The 'Guardian' was first rolled out as a pilot project in Bengaluru, Mumbai and Pune in September last year.
