Indian government strict on cyber crime, so far more than 6 lakh SIMs and more than one lakh mobiles have been blocked

In the digital age, the whole world is currently struggling with cyber crime, including India. In such a situation, the Government of India is taking strict steps to deal with cyber crimes. In response to a question in the Rajya Sabha, the Government of India informed that till November this year, the government has blocked more than 6 lakh 69 thousand SIM cards. Apart from SIM cards, the government has also blocked more than 1 lakh 32 thousand mobile phones till November, which were involved in cyber crimes.

Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur told the Rajya Sabha that apart from blocking SIM cards and mobile phones involved in cyber crimes, the government is also taking action in collaboration with telecom companies to stop fake international calls. She said that such calls, which appear to be coming from India, but are actually international, are now being blocked.

The central government is also taking concrete steps to deal with cyber crime and strengthen the capacity of Law Enforcement Agencies. The Union Minister of State said that to deal with cyber crimes, the Home Ministry has launched an online platform called CyTrain, which teaches modern skills related to cyber crime investigation, forensics and prosecution to police and judicial officers.

According to the central government, so far more than 98 thousand 698 police officers have joined the training of CyTrain and 75 thousand 591 have also been given certificates on completion of training. According to the central government, assistance of Rs 131.60 crore has also been provided to the states and union territories through the Cyber ​​Crime Prevention Against Women and Children (CCPWC) scheme under the Nirbhaya Fund, due to which cyber forensics and training labs have been set up in 33 states and union territories across the country. Also, so far more than 24 thousand 600 police officers, judicial officers and prosecutors have been trained in cyber crime awareness, investigation and forensics.
