As India braces for an intense heatwave, leading cooling product companies like Voltas, Blue Star, and Havells India are poised for significant growth in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2025 (Q1FY25). The demand for air conditioners and other cooling products is expected to surge, driven by the rising temperatures and the increasing affordability of these products among consumers.

In the March quarter of the previous fiscal year, the air conditioner industry witnessed a growth of over 30%, making it the best performing consumer durables category. Despite the onset of the monsoon season in certain parts of the country, the summer categories are likely to maintain strong growth momentum in Q1FY25 due to the prolonged heat waves experienced in April and May.

Voltas, a leading air conditioner manufacturer, has achieved a remarkable milestone by recording the highest-ever sales of ACs by any brand in a financial year in India. The company sold over 2 million units in FY24, a 35% increase from the previous year, cementing its position as the undisputed market leader in the Room Air Conditioner category.

Blue Star, another major player in the cooling products market, also reported a significant growth of 44% in its cooling products segment during the quarter ended March. Havells India, known for its diverse product portfolio including fans, coolers, and air conditioners, has seen its stock price hit record highs in recent sessions, reflecting the market's optimism about the company's future prospects.

While the heatwave narrative is often associated with higher growth in summer products, historical data suggests that factors such as increased affordability and the launch of differentiated products have been more influential in driving the revenues of FMEG (Fast Moving Electrical Goods) firms. However, the current situation, marked by intense heat waves and strong demand, is expected to provide a significant boost to the cooling products segment.

As India grapples with a heatwave, the cooling products market is poised for a sizzling performance. Companies like Voltas, Blue Star, and Havells India are well-positioned to capitalize on the surge in demand, with Voltas already setting a new benchmark for AC sales in the country. The growth of this sector not only benefits the companies themselves but also contributes to the overall economic development of the nation.
