Jio and Airtel to Give Free Digital Connectivity to Users During Heavy Rain and Storm

Reliance Jio and Airtel have taken initiatives to help people affected by heavy rains and stormy weather in Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh. During this time, network and internet services were disrupted in several areas, leaving people unable to connect with their families and essential services. Now, the companies have provided postpaid customers with bill payment relief and prepaid customers with a free three-day extension. Jio is also offering 2GB data and unlimited calls, while Airtel has assured its team is working to restore services quickly.

Prepaid users whose mobile plans are expiring this week will get a free three-day validity extension, meaning their plan duration will be extended. Postpaid customers will receive a grace period for bill payments, so they do not have to worry about late payments.

Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia tweeted that intra-circle roaming (ICR) has also been activated in Jammu & Kashmir. Now, people can use calls and internet on other networks without any additional charges.

Jio said this is to ensure uninterrupted digital connectivity for people to access emergency services, contact family, and get important information. Jio users will receive 2GB data and unlimited voice calling. Additionally, prepaid and JioHome subscribers’ plans will be automatically extended by three days this week.

Airtel has informed that its team is working to restore services as soon as possible in the affected regions to minimize inconvenience. The company is continuously monitoring network and internet conditions.

Despite heavy rain and bad weather, this relief effort will provide safe and continuous connectivity to residents of Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh. This step will especially benefit those dependent on online education, remote work, or emergency services.
