Sacking Dhoni as skipper is disrespectful, says anguished Azhar

New Delhi: Coming down heavily on Rising Pune Supergiants franchise, former Indian Cricket team skipper Mohammad Azharuddin called the decision of sacking MS Dhoni as captain of the side, as abominable and disrespecting.

"MS Dhoni is one of the biggest names in Indian Cricket and he has done a lot for the side. The way RPS showed him door to step down as skipper is third-rate and disgraceful," said Azharuddin while talking to a leading news channel.

"In the history of IPL, Mahi is the most successful captain so far, It was under him that Chennai Super Kings bagged IPL and Champions League titles twice," he added.

Azhar said blaming Dhoni for team's poor performance is a silly thing.

What else Azharuddin said?

  • If they had plans for changing the captain, they should have gone to MSD asking him to quit on his own.
  • It should have been his decision.
  • When one thinks like a businessman, the sportsmanship dies.

It may be recalled here that Australian skipper Steve Smith was named captain of RPS for IPL-10 on Sunday.
