Kingston, Jamaica: Indian Cricket team’s supremacy continued on the Day 1 of the first Test encounter of the four-match series as it bowled out West Indians for 196 runs and is at commanding position by posting 126/1 in their 1st innings at the Sabina Park on Sunday.
Surprisingly opting to bat first in a bowling friendly pitch, Caribbean continued their same lazy batting performances before getting all-out at 196 runs. Marlon Samules (37) and Jemaine Blackwood (62) were the only batsmen who showed resistances.
Credit goes to Indian spinner R.Ashwin, whose destructive 5-wicket haul hurt the Windies. It was his 18th 5-wicket haul. Other wickets were distributed among Ishant Sharma (2/53), Mohd. Shami (2/23) and Amit Mishra (1/38).
Giving a power start, Indian openers Shikhar Dhawan and Lokesh Rahul collaborated in a 50-run stand. Rahul’s unbeaten innings was flavoured with consistent boundaries which helped him scoring unbeaten 75 runs with 10 boundaries.
Rahul, however, was dropped at a score of 46 runs.
Dhawan added 27 runs for his side before being caught out.
KL Rahul looking in midas touch and will try to continue his innings into a ton along with Pujara, who is playing on 18 runs.
