Amit Mishra's injury helps Kuldeep Yadav get maiden Test call-up

Hyderabad: Amit Mishra suffered a knee-injury during the last T20I against England on February 1, which paved way for left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav in the Indian team for the one-off Test against Bangladesh.

Mishra, who was most likely to be included in the playing XI for the match against Bangladesh scheduled to be played in Hyderabad from Thursday, was not seen practising in the nets on Tuesday.

This led to Yadav's maiden Test call-up. Mishra has been advised rest by the medical team and will undergo further assessment soon.

Kuldeep was a part of 'India A' team in the two-day practise match against Bangladeshis. He claimed figures of 1 for 32 and 2-2 in the match, which was enough to impress the selectors.

He has also been selected for the three-day tour game against Australians on February 16. He also represented 'Rest of India' squad in the Irani Cup match but would not bag any wickets.

He had so far participated in 22 first-class matches and has claimed 81 wickets at an average of 33.11.

Apart from Kuldeep, India's 15-member squad has three more spinners – R Ashwin, R Jadeja and Jayant Yadav.
